The Art Planet Academy started as small union of youth in Lubya who had been inspired by their past experiences. They attracted many other youths with whom they shared a similar vision.

Shortly after the founders had joined University, they started the Uganda Micro Gardens which was a small movement of young scholars from from the college of Agriculture at Makerere University. this group of scholars aimed to partnering university students with communities around to promote food security through establishment of small home site micro gardens. This saw the group developing into the first initiative of the Art Planet Academy Organization.

since then, the initiative has grown to establish many other chapters in different educational settings

the established chapters include 

The Kampala University Uganda Micro- Gardens Initiative chapter, Ndejje University Uganda Micro Gardens Initiative chapter and many others in primary schools, secondary schools and institutions of higher learning.

since then, these initiative chapters have imagined many projects including the dig at school projects, dig at home projects, school gardening for life projects and many more projects aiming at improving food security.

the organization has been able to form various initiatives in each of its core values with the notable ones being the Environmental Initiative that has implemented projects like the students' recycling award project, The EnviroEducate project, and the Community recycling galas.

other initiatives include the JAALI awareness initiative that aims at creating awareness about the various  challenges pressing community with their pioneer project being the JAALI AIDS awareness campaighn.
